Breathe Easier!

By Tim Russell

Singing with an open throat is an important part of singing healthily, but also will allow for more  power and clarity in your voice.

To find the feeling of throat openness, take a quiet, relaxed breath through a released jaw.  Bonus: Add in a little bit of a laugh on the inhalation!

Compare this to a forced, "noisy" breath- one that almost resembles slight choking or asthmatic  breathing.

Observe the sensations in each situation and note that feeling of an OPEN airway versus a  CONSTRICTED airway.

Your breathing is a blueprint for your sound, so if you can allow for easy, open breathing, an  open and free tone will follow.

Keep it open!

Happy singing!

Live, laugh, love.
