Today (& Brownies)
Why do desserts without chocolate exist?
IMO, to be considered a satisfying dessert, the dish must involve chocolate.
It can be featured, sprinkled, dusted, or the main event, but the delicious brown substance made from cacao beans must be present on my plate.
Hard stop.
These days, with my general state of being being, well, ‘whelmed (over, under, all of the kinds), it is too much for me to make big choices.
So I stick with what I know to be true, which is that dessert is always better with chocolate.
Some people may hate me for it and completely disagree. And that is fine. Because every person has the right to consume whatever treat makes them happy. Ignoring the noisy voices shouting “But lemon curd! Lemon curd!”, I shall stand my coco ground, for in tumultuous times, I know that I thrive with structure, routine, and a guiding rule or two, andddd chocolate.
If you, too, feel ‘whelmed these days, what can you stick with that you know to be true?
What concrete boundaries, constraints, limits, and guidelines can create the conditions for you to experience joy and satiation during these difficult days?
If nothing comes to mind, consider finding a brownie.
Enjoy it while you have a good think.
