Belt it out!

When "belting", trying using LESS air than you would for "legit" vocal production. TO PRACTICE: Take your normal breath, then blow out HALF of your air -- sing your line directly  following that exhale. Even try practicing this method as if calling out to someone across the  street. Then, compare this to a FULL breath method and notice the difference. WHY THIS WORKS? In a "belt" scenario, your larynx is slightly higher, so your vocal tract  narrows. Trying to stuff a ton of breath through a smaller tube can be damaging and more than  the vocal folds can handle.
